88 terrorists killed in ongoing anti-terror op in Pakistan

Karachi, July 11: At least 88 terrorists were killed in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province since the launch of a major anti-terror operation on July 5, the government said on Saturday. Nine terrorists were killed in the past 24 hours, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement. “The total number of terrorists killed since July 5 in Operation Shaban has reached 88,” he said. The military, paramilitary Rangers and the Frontier Corps are participating in the ongoing operation, which has involved both ground and air offensives against the militants. The operation was launched after insurgents carried out several coordinated attacks across Balochistan on July 5. (PTI)

EAM Jaishankar to launch India’s UNSC campaign

New York, July 11: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will launch India’s campaign for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for the 2028-29 term and also meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters next week. Jaishankar undertook an official visit to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman from July 5-10 and is expected to arrive in the US on Saturday. He will launch India’s official campaign for the UN Security Council tenure 2028-29 at a special event in the UN headquarters on Monday. He will then attend the 3rd India-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting and interact with his EU and Belgian counterparts in Brussels on July 14-15. India was last part of the UNSC in the 2021-22 term. Elections for the 2028-29 term will be conducted in June next year, when India and Tajikistan will compete for the sole seat in the Asia-Pacific Group category. (PTI)
