Actor Rachel Shelley reunited with her Lagaan co-star Aamir Khan at the screening of the film at the London Indian Film Festival to mark its 25th anniversary. The film was screened at the 17th edition of the festival on July 12. The film, which originally released on June 15, 2001, was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The period sports drama told the story of a cricket match between a group of untrained villagers and their colonial masters. Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane are set to present a short psychological thriller film, Incognito. The film is directed by Ravi Muppa and will release on a new, shorts-exclusive YouTube channel, ’Oh Flip Shorts’, backed by producer Ranjan Singh and curated by Kashyap, according to a press release. Featuring Vikram Singh, Ayushi Nema, and Dev Chauhan, it follows a cash-strapped motel receptionist who profits off hidden-cam videos-until he records a girl in danger of being trafficked and must decide whether to save her or protect himself. Michael, a film on the King of Pop Michael Jackson, featuring his nephew, Jaafar Jackson, has emerged as the first biopic to earn over USD 1 billion at the global box office. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for projects such as Training Day and The Equalizer franchise, among others. It released on April 24 and is distributed globally by Lionsgate and Universal Pictures. According to the entertainment news outlet Variety, the film has earned USD 629.8 million overseas and USD 371.8 million domestically, bringing the global collection to USD 1.001 billion. Govinda announces comeback with Roopa
Actor Govinda is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film Roopa, marking his comeback after several years. The actor announced the project at a press conference, where he also introduced newcomer Rani Swarnkar, who will star opposite him. Govinda is also producing the film. Govinda said being written off by people only made him stronger. Calling it ‘destiny,’ he shared that he has always believed in starting again and hopes Roopa connects with young audiences. ‘Maybe it was destiny that I was written off so many times.
