62-year-old man stabs sister to death in SWKH, manhunt begins

MAWKYRWAT, July 14: A 62-year-old man from Pyndenumsaw village (15 km from Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills) allegedly stabbed his younger sister to death on Tuesday morning and fled.
Bailing Wahlang is accused of attacking Snity Wahlang (56), mother of six (four girls, two boys), around 6:30 AM. Locals said he stabbed her multiple times with a sharp weapon. Some saw him carrying a knife. The motive remains unclear, though residents suspect property dispute.
Police got information from Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital that a woman was brought dead with fatal stab injuries. Women police personnel confirmed the injuries.
Spot inquest was done and the body was sent for post-mortem. The Crime Scene Unit and police secured the place of occurrence with the help of the village secretary and eyewitnesses.
Following an FIR, a case was registered at Mawkyrwat Women PS under Section 103(1) BNS.
Police said the accused fled after committing the crime and remains absconding while a manhunt continues to trace him.
