SHILLONG/TURA/JOWAI, July 17: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is nearing completion of its enumeration phase in several parts of Meghalaya. Election authorities on Friday reported significant progress in the distribution and digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs) across East Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills.
In East Khasi Hills, 84.96% of forms have been distributed to the district’s 5.62 lakh electors. As of Friday, 1.20 lakh forms (21.51%) have been digitised. Mawkynrew constituency recorded the highest distribution rate at 97.09%, followed by Pynursla at 94.18%. Mawsynram leads the district in digitisation at 32.72%. Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) conducted field inspections in Mawryngkneng, South Shillong, and other areas to monitor the door-to-door exercise.
In West Garo Hills, District Election Officer Vibhor Aggarwal conducted field visits in South Tura to oversee the process. The district has distributed 3.72 lakh forms out of a total of 3.96 lakh electors, marking a 93.7% coverage rate. Nearly 1.86 lakh forms have already been digitised. The DEO urged remaining electors to submit their filled forms with supporting documents to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) promptly to ensure no one is left out.
In East Jaintia Hills, distribution has reached 91.03% of the district’s 1.04 lakh registered voters. The Sutnga Saipung constituency has nearly completed distribution at 98.14%, with over half of the forms already digitised. In Khliehriat, distribution stands at 83.99%. Overall, 56.51% of the district’s forms have been processed digitally.
Authorities across all three districts have established help desks and helplines to assist voters. Electors who have not yet received their forms are advised to contact their respective BLOs or EROs immediately.
The enumeration phase, which began on June 30, is a critical step in ensuring the accuracy and sanctity of the state’s electoral rolls.
