Mangal Pandey’s courageous life continues to fill every Indian with pride, says PM Modi

New Delhi, July 19 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid rich tribute to the great revolutionary Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary and said that his courageous life continues to fill every Indian with pride.

Taking to X, PM Modi said, “Heartfelt salutations to the great revolutionary Mangal Pandey ji on his birth anniversary. For the protection of the pride and honour of the motherland, he sacrificed everything he had. His courageous life continues to fill every Indian with pride even today. His saga of valour, imbued with patriotism, will keep inspiring every generation of the nation.”

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, in a post on X, said, “My deepest salutations on the birth anniversary of the immortal warrior of the First War of Independence of 1857, Veer Mangal Pandey, a symbol of indomitable courage and patriotism.”

“His courage and patriotism at the Barrackpore Cantonment on March 29, 1857, marked a decisive moment in Indian history; it challenged the foundations of foreign rule and gave a new direction to the freedom movement. His sacrifice remained a source of inspiration for countless revolutionaries for decades to come. The life of Veer Mangal Pandey continues to inspire millions of Indians with patriotism even today,” he added.

Taking to X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted, “By sounding the bugle for the Revolution of 1857, the revolutionary Mangal Pandey awakened public consciousness to the struggle for our own culture, self-respect, and national interest. He even sacrificed his life to liberate Mother India from British oppression and injustice.”

“The spark of revolution ignited by his sacrifice later transformed into the mighty flame of independence. My deepest salutations on the birth anniversary of such an unparalleled martyr and immortal revolutionary, Mangal Pandey,” he added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid heartfelt tributes on the birth anniversary of Mangal Pandey, calling him a “hero of the 1857 War of Independence” and an “immortal symbol of unparalleled courage and patriotism”.

“The fearlessness with which Mangal Pandey sounded the bugle of revolution against foreign rule ignited a spirit of patriotism across India and inspired countless countrymen to struggle for the freedom of the motherland. His sacrifice, valour, and unwavering dedication to the nation will always inspire us to move forward on the path of national service and nation-building,” Singh said in a post on X.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda wrote, “I offer my humble salutations on the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Mangal Pandey, who sounded the bugle of revolution against British rule in 1857.”

“The indomitable courage and struggle against British rule by Mangal Pandey, a great son of Mother India, laid the foundation for our freedom struggle and ignited the flame of independence across the nation. His indomitable courage and sacrifice for the motherland will forever remain a source of inspiration for us all,” Nadda added.
