Cong opposes MP UCC bill

Bhopal, July 21: The Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday staged a protest in the assembly premises against the BJP government’s efforts to “advance the RSS agenda” by enacting the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Before the assembly proceedings started, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar and other Congress MLAs protested in front of three ‘corpses’ (party workers mimicking lifeless bodies). Pieces of paper stuck over the bodies identified them as “BJP”, “RSS” and “ABVP”. The BJP government was a “government of corpses” which remained completely inactive on the real public issues, the opposition party alleged. Singhar said that the government was sleeping as if it was a corpse in the face of the problems faced by the people. Farmers were facing fertiliser shortages, the youth were struggling for employment, crimes against women were rising, and scams were being exposed in the state, yet the government remained silent, he said.
