TURA, July 23: The Tura Based Church Leaders’ Forum has expressed its profound anguish and deep concern over the three reported instances of the 2026 NEET paper leak as well as reported irregularities in the CBSE on-screen marking process.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, the forum felt the grave lapses were a serious erosion of public confidence in India’s examination and evaluation system.
“Having collected substantial examination fees from candidates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is duty-bound to conduct examinations that are timely, secure, fair, transparent, and credible. The reported NEET paper leaks have raised serious concerns about whether that responsibility has been adequately discharged, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the future of millions of students,” it said.
According to it, the reported irregularities in the CBSE on-screen marking process have likewise raised serious concerns about the fairness, accuracy, transparency, and credibility of the evaluation process. Every student is entitled to an assessment system that is fair, reliable, and transparent, and every genuine grievance deserves prompt, impartial, and effective redress, it added
“The Government of India bears both a constitutional and moral responsibility to safeguard the integrity of India’s public examination system. We therefore call for a thorough, independent, impartial, and time-bound investigation into the reported NEET paper leaks and the alleged irregularities in the CBSE on-screen marking process. Those found responsible for paper leaks, security breaches, evaluation irregularities, or administrative failures must be identified, prosecuted where warranted, and held fully accountable in accordance with law,” the forum demanded.
The Forum also expressed concern on reports that excessive force was used against students and youth organisations peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar. In a constitutional democracy, the rights to peaceful assembly and peaceful dissent are fundamental and must be respected. Any allegation of excessive use of force should be promptly and impartially investigated, and accountability ensured wherever violations are established, it felt.
“We respectfully urged the Prime Minister to address the nation, engage meaningfully with the student community, and initiate urgent structural reforms to restore transparency, accountability, integrity, and public confidence in the country’s examination and evaluation systems. We also call upon the Union Minister for Education to accept moral responsibility for the present crisis and take decisive corrective measures.,” it said, while adding the future of India’s youth was never to be compromised by paper leaks, evaluation irregularities, and institutional failures.
“Every student has the right to a fair, transparent, and credible examination system. Protecting that right is a constitutional and national duty,” it asserted.
