SHILLONG, July 24: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum has congratulated Meghalaya’s young performer Kitkupar Nongsiej for his success at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) 2026 in Las Vegas, calling it a proud moment for the state and the country.
In a congratulatory message, Nongrum praised Nongsiej for winning three gold medals, two bronze medals and the First Place Scholarship Award at the prestigious international competition.
The MLA stated that the achievement reflects Nongsiej’s exceptional talent and years of dedication.
He then noted that representing India as the country’s lone finalist and securing multiple honours was an extraordinary feat that has placed the Northeast on the global stage.
Describing the young artist as an inspiration, Nongrum said Nongsiej’s success would encourage many young people in the region to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
