SHILLONG, July 24: Trinamool Congress MLA from Rajabala, Dr Mizanur Rahman Kazi, on Friday launched a sharp attack on the state government, alleging administrative negligence, poor infrastructure and lack of transparency in West Garo Hills. He warned of public agitation if corrective steps are not taken.
Referring to the short-circuit incident at New Bhaitbari Bazar, Kazi said it had exposed the “pathetic condition” of the Electricity Department. He demanded a thorough inquiry and immediate corrective measures, stressing that timely maintenance and safety protocols could not be compromised when public safety was at stake. The MLA also accused the government of delaying Village Employment Council (VEC) elections despite High Court directions and alleged irregularities in the issuance of work orders in Batabari and Demdema C&RD Blocks. He further criticised the AMPT road stretch repaired by Midas Constructions, saying it had deteriorated quickly due to poor-quality work and that public funds should not be wasted on such infrastructure.
Claiming his repeated representations had been ignored for political reasons, Kazi said the concerns of the people were being suppressed. He urged the government to act without delay and warned that if the authorities failed to respond, the people would be left with no option but to launch an agitation to secure their “legitimate justice.”
