Athletes impress at 6th Annual State Yogasana Championship

Shillong, July 25: Athletes from across Meghalaya showcased their flexibility, balance and skill at the 6th Annual State-Level Yogasana Sports Championship, organised by the Meghalaya Yogasana Sports Association in collaboration with the West Garo Hills District Yogasana Sports Association at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills on Saturday.
The championship was held with the support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, and Yogasana Bharat.
Participants from East Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills competed in various categories, highlighting the growing popularity of Yogasana as a competitive sport in the state.A major highlight of the event was Ri-Bhoi’s Jackson Deingdoh creating history by winning the silver medal in the Traditional Yogasana event in the Senior Men’s category. It marked the first time that an athlete from the district had secured a silver medal in the category at the state championship.MLA of Tikrikilla constituency Jimmy D. Sangma attended the closing function as the chief guest.
