The Delhi High Court has ordered the removal of social media links related to the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy from platforms including X and YouTube, following a petition filed by actor Salman Khan over alleged violation of his personality rights.
During the hearing, the court criticised the film’s producer Amit Jani, stating that he appeared to believe he was above the law.
Jani’s counsel argued that the teaser did not use Salman Khan’s name, did not contain any deepfake or AI-generated content, and questioned how it could infringe on the actor’s rights.
Salman Khan’s legal team, however, claimed that the teaser was designed to negatively portray the actor and influence public sentiment against him by highlighting his past controversies.
The film is reportedly inspired by Salman’s 1998 blackbuck poaching case and his alleged rivalry with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Directed by Bharat S. Shrinet and produced by Amit Jani, Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy released its teaser on July 17, featuring references associated with Salman Khan’s films and public persona.
The actor has denied allegations related to the case and has received legal relief in parts of the matter. (IANS)
