Registration of private bore wells, tube wells now mandatory in SWGH

Ampati, July 27: The District Level Committee on Ground Water Resource (DLCGWR), South West Garo Hills has directed all individuals and public institutions owning private bore wells and tube wells in the district to register their installations with the office of the Executive Engineer (Water Resources with immediate effect.
The directive has been issued to facilitate the study of groundwater development and ensure the scientific management and sustainable utilisation of groundwater resources in South West Garo Hills district.
According to the notification, owners of private bore wells and tube wells must submit all relevant documents while registering their installations at the Office of the Executive Engineer (Water Resources), Ampati.
The District Level Committee has made it clear that registration is compulsory for all concerned. It has further warned that failure to comply with the directive will attract action under the relevant provisions of law.
