State Govt to announce new IT policy soon

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government will announce a new information technology (IT) policy shortly.
Informing this, Commissioner and Secretary IT department DP Wahlang said that his department is working on a vibrant IT policy which will give more emphasis on job creation.
“The new IT policy will ensure that the State does not lose talented and gifted minds who can contribute to the wellbeing of the State,” he said while speaking at the 8th edition of the IT Awards ceremony held here on Monday.
Loptops were distributed among those meritorious students who have excelled in final examinations of Class X and XII from various boards in 2014.
Wahlang informed that the IT Department has signed an agreement with BSNL to set up WiFi in all the higher secondary schools of the State in February.
Referring to distribution of tablets (M-tabs) among the Class XII students across the state, he said the same (M-tabs) would given to the teachers soon.
While congratulating the young achievers, IT minister AL Hek in his speech said that their hard work and commitment have made their parents and their schools proud.
Hek said that the government would set up IT classrooms in February in all the Higher Secondary Schools of the State.
