SHILLONG: The KSU’s South West Khasi Hills has decided to withdraw its proposed night road blockade on December 26 and 29 following an assurance from the district administration on its demand to place Weiloi to Rangblang road project in the ‘priority list’ of the NLCPR.

“We have decided to temporarily postpone our agitation following an assurance from the Deputy Commissioner,” ) KSU South West Khasi Hills general secretary Forwardman Nongrem said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Deputy Commissioner Ripnar Lyngdoh has assured to pursue the demand with the State Government.

The KSU unit earlier decided to hold night road blockade on December 26 and 29 protesting the State government’s failure to place Weiloi to Rangblang road project in the ‘priority list’ of the NLCPR.

The road project was scrapped, based on the recommendation of the Chief Minister in the 118th meeting of NLCPR committee.

“We will resort to agitation if the Deputy Commissioner fails to break the deadlock,” Nongrem said.
