Guwahati Literary Fest to focus on emerging literary trends

Guwahati:The three-day Guwahati Literary Festival (GLF), 2014 begins here on Saturday with a host of writers from different parts of the country to highlight emerging literary trends.
”The festival aims to bring together young and senior writers, journalists and intellectuals of Assam and its neighbours along with writers from different parts of the country”, GLF 2014 Chairman Dr D J Borah said on Friday.
The festival would inclu-de a set of programmes representing various aspe-cts of emerging literary trends at both national and international level, he said. Different issues of litera-ture, society, ethnicity and environment that confront a writer in this fast changing world will be discussed between senior and emerging writers.
The day-long sessions will include among others discussions on writings on North East, Myth, society and storytelling, interro-gating social reality through cartoons, dynamics of publishing, changing social and cultural trends in China with focus on writing,  indigenous literature and progressive trends in Urdu literature.The motto of the festival, organised by Assam Government throu-gh its Publication Board is ‘enrich-ment through excha-nge, interactions and friendship’. Borah added.
Eminent writers Namita Gokhale, Urvashi Butalia, R Jalil, A Dev Sen, Jerry Pinto, AK Dutta, Mamang Dai, Janice Pariat, Mitra Phukan, Arupa Patangia Kalita,  Pushpesh Pant along with journalists Mark Tully to attend the festival.(PTI)
