Kolkata: Bangladesh Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Saturday said there was no evidence that money collected by the Saradha chit fund group was deposited in any of the banks in his country to fund Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh outfit, which is linked to Burdwan blast, there.

“There is no evidence of Saradah money deposited in any Bangladeshi bank, as alleged, to fund the JMB outfit”, Muhith told reporters on the sidelines of a programme of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry here.

His statement came weeks after Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh had hold the Lok Sabha in a written reply that the probe has so far not revealed that Saradha chit fund money was used to finance terror in Bangladesh, contradicting BJP chief Amit Shah’s allegation of such a connection. “The investigation has so far not revealed any such transaction where money was routed to Bangladesh to fund terrorist activities,” Singh had told the Lok Sabha on December 3.

Addressing a rally in Kolkata on November 30, Shah had alleged that Saradha chit fund money was used in the October 2 Burdwan blast, which is being probed for link with JMB.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) had come down heavily on Shah for his comment.

NIA and Enforcement Directorate are still probing the money trail raised by these ponzi firms as to whether it was being used for funding terror outfits like JMB.

NIA is also investigating the Burdwan blast. (PTI)
