‘Harry Potter’ star David Ryall dead

British actor David Ryall, best known for playing Elphias Doge in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” , died at the age of 79.
He died on Christmas Thursday. “Sherlock” writer and actor Mark Gatiss confirmed the news on social media Saturday, reports variety.com.
“The great David Ryall left us on Christmas Day. A twinkling, brilliant, wonder-ful actor I was privileged to call a friend. RIP,” Gatiss tweeted.Ryall’s daughter and actress Charlie Ryall, also confirmed the news by tweeting: “Please take a moment to remember his huge five-decade career outside of the more well-known TV & film.
He replaced Peter Cart-wright as Doge in 2010’s “Harry Potter and the Death-ly Hallows Part 1.”Most recently, he acclaimed reco-gnition on the small screen as Frank – the grandfather who suffers from dementia – in the BBC comedy “Outnu-mbered”. The actor began his career on the stage before becoming popular on British TV. (IANS)
