Guwahati:  Two ‘militants’ belonging to Muslim United Liberation Tiger of Assam (MULTA) were arrested Monday by army along with a cache of arms from Dhubri district.
“Army troops of Red Horn Division Monday apprehended two hardcore terrorists in Daobhangi in Dhubri district. Two US-made pistols and live ammunition were recovered from them,” a defence spokesperson said in a statement.
“Based on specific information from sources that two MULTA militants in the area were trying to create disturbance, the operation was planned and executed before they could put into action their nefarious plans of disturbing communal harmony and spreading terror in the area,” he said.
The official said these two individuals were involved in kidnapping and extortion activities since long and had been blacklisted by the police since last one year. (PTI)
