Delhi Police to induct 160 people from NE states

New Delhi: Delhi Police will induct 160 youth from the northeastern states of the country every year to make it better equipped to deal with crime against people from these states in the national capital.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju made the announcement here at Delhi Police head-quarters while holding a meeting on problems faced by people of the north-eastern states in Delhi with senior Delhi Police officials here on Wednesday.

The Minister said that 10 male and 10 female personnel will be inducted in Delhi Police every year from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meg-halaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. For this, Rijiju has written a letter to the Chief Ministers of all these eight states to recruit the youth as per their recruitment policy and procedure while keeping the Delhi Police in loop. The letter was signed by him today at PHQ in the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi and other senior officials. Bassi had written a letter in this regard to all DGsP of these states and Rijiju in his letter has asked the Chief Ministers to expedite the process.(PTI)
