Meghalaya’s Got Talent coming soon

SHILLONG:The Meghalaya Social Programme Welfare Development Organisation (MSPWDO) will organize the first of its kind reality show in the state titled, ‘Meghalaya’s Got Talent’.
The event is aimed at tapping the unexplored talents of the State, especially those in the rural areas.
“The event is aimed at bringing out the inborn talents of the people of the state, be it in music, craftsmanship or performing magic stunts,” MSPWDO president Alex Nongbet said.
“This show will not be restricted to singing and dancing only. It will encompass all kinds of talents. There will no age limit and anybody can participate in the event,” Nongbet said.
Meanwhile, secretary of the organisation, Kitbok Thabah informed that the audition for the show will be held in various districts of the State with the first audition slated for Jaintia Hills in the last week of February followed by Ri Bhoi, West Khasi Hills, South WestKhasi Hills and a mega audition in East Khasi Hills.
Thabah also informed that the winners of the talent show will get an opportunity to interact and sign up with people involved in the entertainment business and other big reality shows like India’s Got Talent and Dance India Dance.
He also informed that the winner of the show will receive a prize money of Rs 2 lakh and those securing the second and third spots will take home Rs 80,000 and Rs 30, 000 respectively.
“The application forms for participating in the event will be released shortly,” he said.
Talks are still on with telecom authorities in Kolkata to initiate an SMS system of voting to ensure transparency, Thabah said adding that if the conversations fail to bear results, the traditional method of voting, which is distributing coupons, will be put to use.
He also called upon the people of the State to come forward and take part in the show while informing that any information regarding the event can be derived from the organisation’s office at Synod Building at Mawkhar point.
