Consumers in city start getting subsidy amounts

SHILLONG: The Pahal (Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG) scheme has been re-launched in 622 districts of the country including all eleven in Meghalaya on January 1.
LPG consumers in Shillong have already started receiving the subsidy for the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) in their registered bank accounts.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Sanjay Goyal informed that there are 83,937 LPG consumers in the district alone out of whom around 60,000 have already submitted particulars to their respective gas agencies for the DBTL scheme.
He also stated that 50,303 LPG connections have already been linked with the bank accounts under the DBTL scheme.
A deadline of January 15 has been fixed for the remaining consumers to apply and register for the scheme.
It may be mentioned that the scheme would cover 15.3 crore consumers across 676 districts of the country and presently 6.5 crores or 43 per cent of the consumers have joined the scheme.
All the consumers have been requested to immediately join the scheme which requires linking of the bank account directly with the 17-digit LPG Id.
A consumer who joins the scheme will get cylinders at market price and receive LPG subsidy directly in his/ her bank account.
Consumers in Shillong will be getting an amount of Rs 536 as subsidy deposited in their registered accounts.
