New Delhi: Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma has accused the BCCI of publishing the photographs of the President and Prime Minister in its annual report “to gain cheap publicity” and sought intervention of the first citizen of the country in the matter.
In a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, Verma said that by publishing the photographs of him and the Prime Minister the BCCI dragged them into unnecessary controversy.
“In the recent annual report of the BCCI for 2013-14, the cricket board has published the photographs of the honourable President and the honourable Prime Minister in its cover page without the prior approval of the two great leaders,” Verma said in the letter.
“… this is an attempt by the BCCI to drag the two great leaders into unnecessary controversy. Never before in the 87 years history of the board were the photographs of the President and the Prime Minister used in the annual report,” he added.
Verma requested the President to look into the matter.
“… the BCCI is trying to gain cheap publicity after its functioning has been shrouded in controversy because of the involvement of its top functionaries in the IPL betting and spot fixing.
“My humble request to you is to kindly look into the matter since the BCCI has committed a serious offence by dragging in two great leaders without showing the basic courtesy of requesting their prior permission,” he said. (PTI)
