TURA: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will launch the Garo Hills chapter of Apiculture Mission on Wednesday at Asananggre Playground located 17 kilometres from here.
Apiculture Mission, a part of the larger Integrated Basin Development & Livelihood Programme (IBDLP) would deal with the maintenance of honey bee colonies, commonly in hives. The mission is designed to spur initiatives which are integrative with Meghalaya’s biophysical attributes to confer livelihood improvement through gainful employment of the local populace.
Several Cabinet Ministers, officers of line departments, bee keepers and beneficiaries of the scheme from all the five districts of Garo Hills are likely to be present during the programme.
