African national held for illegally entering M’laya from B’desh

Shillong: The Border Security Force arrested an Ivory Coast national for illegally entering India from Bangladesh, even as Indian intelligence officials are interrogating him to find out the exact identity of the African national, an official said on Monday.
Abba Ezeke (46) was nabbed by the BSF on Saturday midnight from Langtilla village on the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district, while he was attempting to cross over to Bangladesh, BSF spokesman Sushil Kumar Singh said.
The BSF official said that Ezeke was being interrogated by Indian intelligence agencies to verify his antecedent and if he had any links with any terror groups.
The arrested African national who trespassed to India with his expired passport had told the interrogators that his motive to cross to India was mainly to renew his passport and visa, which has expired.
Meghalaya Police have registered a case against under the Foreigners Act and Passport Act. (UNI)
