CBI arrests chit fund company chief in Tripura

New Delhi: CBI on Wednesday arrested chief of a chit fund company from Tripura who had allegedly scooted after collecting deposits worth crores from investors in the state.
CBI sources said Subhendu Deb Choudhary, Director, Cosmic Negotiator, has been arrested in Tripura in connection with its probe into multi-crore chit fund scam on charges including cheating and criminal breach of trust.
The sources said the company is based in Kolkata with major chunk of operations in Tripura from where he collected huge funds before disappearing.
CBI spokesperson said case was referred by state of Tripura to the agency.
There are four FIRs against Saradha group in West Bengal in which it has been alleged that thousands of investors were allegedly duped by the company officials and their associates.
Besides, there are 44 FIRs in Odisha against ponzi companies.
These cases have been registered on the instructions of the Supreme Court but the case against Choudhary is not referred by the apex court. (PTI)
