Dalmia Cement pumps in 2,000 crore for NE biz

Guwahati: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd on Saturday said it has invested around Rs 2,000 crore in expanding its business in North East over the past two years.
“Since we entered the North Eastern market two years ago, we have been working on to develop it. So far, we have invested close to Rs 2,000 crore since 2012,” Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Abhra Banerjee told reporters here.
The company currently has three manufacturing plants in the region — one in Meghalaya and two in Assam, he added.
“In the next 1-2 months, we will commission one clinkerisation unit in Assam with an installed capacity of one million unit,” Banerjee said.
He said the company currently employs around 3,000 people in the region and it is likely to go up in the next few years.
Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd Senior Executive Director, Group Marketing, B K Singh said the company is committed to the region for the long-run. Meanwhile, the company today announced the ‘Padmashree Jugal Kishore Chowdhury Forum of Excellence’ in collaboration with Jugal Kishore Chowdhury Charitable and Educational Trust and Association of Architects Assam (AAA).
The Forum will promote best practices in architecture and planning by giving the ‘JKC Award of Excellence’ every year, it said. (PTI)
