Rabindranath Tagore Club will celebrate its 10th Foundation Day and Sree Sree Saraswati Puja on January 25 on the premises of Laban Bengalee Boy’s LP School. Drum beaters from Dhubri, Assam will perform during the Puja slated to begin at 7:30 am.
Doctor no more
Dr. Shyam Sundar Sharma, one of the oldest practicing doctors of Shillong, breathed his last on Monday. Born on August 31, 1933, he passed his MBBS from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, and then joined the KJP Synod Presbyterian Hospital at Jaiaw and served there till his retirement. After retirement, he began attending patients at Police Bazar and Qualapatty. He did not charge any fees from poor patients and distributed free medicines to them.
