Kohima:Dissident group of Naga Peoples Front (NPF), led by Noke, accused Chief Minister T R Zeliang of using armed elements and underground cadres to kidnap MLA Deo Nukhu from Sovima camp in Dimapur on Thursday.
In a press release, the group alleged that Deo Nukhu was on his daily morning walk this morning when armed men kidnapped him from Dimapur and transported him to Kohima to join the ‘minority group under the minority CM and former NPF chief Dr. Shurhozelie.
‘After being taken to Kohima, he was forced to sign documents,’ the state-0ment said. It said  Nukhu had given written commit-ment to the Gover-nor, the NPF president and the Election Commission profe-ssing his support to their group.  Accusing  Zeliang of resorting to ‘such criminal act’, the dissidents said such ‘nefarious activities and horse trading’is a dangerous trend that is bound to have far reaching consequences for which  Zeliang will be fully responsible. The release urged the ‘minority Chief Minister and former NPF president Dr Shurhozelie’ to immediately release the kidnapped MLA and also release other MLAs ‘held under forced captivity’.
Meanwhile, Deo Nukhu rejected reports that he had been kidnapped and said he decided to return on his own free will. On his joining with T R Zeliang, Deo said he realized that the party and legislators gave unanimous support to the chief minister seven months back.(UNI)
