TURA: Former ANVC-B chairman Bernard N Marak (Rimpu) has sought documented proof from the GHADC as to how and when the Town area was declared as Khas Mahal and de-reserved under Mouza number X-I.
“It has come to our knowledge through an RTI that the main town of Tura which falls under the Danakgre A’king mouza number II-16 was declared as mouza number X-I. We understand that mouza number I to IV is for the hill area and mouza number V to IX is for the plain areas. We also know that mouza number X was created after reorganizing mouza number V to IX of the plain areas. So how and when was the town area under the A’king land declared as mouza number X?” he questioned and further wanted to know whether the A’king Nokma was aware of the decision.
He went on to question whether the Chras and sons of the A’king Nokma were witness to any agreement or approval or whether there was any written consent or agreement of the Aking Nokma. Questioning the viability of mouza X he demanded to know why its creation was not inserted in the Green Book of the GHADC. “We want to know who declared this hill area as a Khas Mahal and de-reserved under mouza number X. If the consent of the A’king Nokma was really taken while declaring these areas under mouza X we want the GHADC to provide us a copy of the agreement written by the Nokma,” Marak said.
Stating that many residents with land pattas and other documents were being served eviction notices while others faced difficulties in availing basic necessities like water, electricity etc., Marak said he could not remain a mute spectator when irregularities like this crop up within the A’king land.
He also said it was a priority concern to seek information on the issue as many people residing in the area are made to believe that the town area is not under the A’king Nokma and falls outside his purview.
