Nongpoh: In a shocking incident, a senior police official tried to commit suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his official quarter on Saturday.
The official PJ Marbaniang, Sub-inspector in charge of Patharkhmah Police Outpost, was found lying in a pool of blood by police personnel who rushed to his quarter after hearing a gun shot. ) It is further learnt that the bullet pierced through Marbaniang’s skull. He has been shifted to Guwahati and his condition is stated to be critical.
The incident took place around 9pm, police sources said adding that Marbaniang was posted as the officer in charge of Patharkhmah Police Outpost under Nongpoh PS recently.
