Security enhanced for R-Day celebration in Tripura

Agartala:Though there is no threat this time in Tripura against celebra-tion of Republic Day, the administration took extra security measure to ensure peaceful celebration across the state today.
Inspector General of Police (Control) Nepal Das said here today besides, extra deployment along Indo-Bangladesh border and enhancing security in all important public installations of the state, close circuit cameras have been installed in sensitive locations and crowded places.
“Dog squad, bomb squad and plain cloth police have been deployed in important locations of the state capital and towns besides, round the clock monitoring of people and vehicles movements across the state,” Mr Das stated.
He, however, pointed out that the police and security forces have been mobilised since January 21 last, on the day when celebration of statehood day began across the state. The measu-res have been tightened further from yesterday, as part of nationwide security arrangement ahead of Republic Day.
All police stations in different parts of the state have been sounded alert even as a regular coordina-tion exercise with other security agencies including BSF has been made ahead of the celebration, he said.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will hoist the national tri-colour tomorrow in Assam Rifles ground and take the salute.(UNI)
