Five hardcore NDFB(S) nabbed

Guwahati/Tezpur: Five hardcore NDFB(S) militants have been apprehended during separate operations by army and police in Assam’s Sonitpur and Udalguri districts on Tuesday, police said.
Two NDFB(S) cadres have been nabbed by the police during an operation in Kusrabari village in Udalguri district, IGP (BTAD) L R Bishnoi said.
The militants have been identified as self-styled Dhananjay Basumatary alias Didum and Section Commander Sanjay Basumatary alias Jingabil.
The police also recovered two pistols, three hand grenades, four rounds of ammunitions and an ignitor set, Bishnoi added.
In another incident, the army and the police in a joint operation apprehended three hardcore NDFB(S) militants from Sarakpur Dhuli Nalah, a remote village bordering Arunachal Pradesh in Sonitpur district, Superintendent of police Manavendra Devroy said.
The three militants have been identified as Nitul Daimary alias Naihab, Runilush Daimary alias Mwnthai and Sukson Basumatary alias Jondesh.
The security forces recovered an AK 47 rifle, a Chinese rifle and a hand grenade from the militants.
Nitul Daimary alias Naihab was a self-styled deputy commander of the outfit’s Third battalion and was allegedly involved in the killing of former Sonitpur Additional Superintendent of police Gulzar Husain in an ambush at Thaolo under Dhekiajuli police station on January 28 last year. (PTI)
