Man mauled to death by elephant

Jalpaiguri (WB): A man was killed by a wild elephant near a jungle at Mantadari in Jalpaiguri district, forest officials said on Tuesday.
Naresh Roy (55) was flung on the ground after being lifted by the elephant with its trunk. He died on the spot Monday evening, Conservator of Forest Tapas Das said.
The elephant came out of a jungle nearby when Roy was returning home at Ambari-Falakata from a market, Das said.
Forest department officials have handed over Rs 30,000 as compensation to the nearest of the kins of Roy, he added. (PTI)
