SHILLONG: North East Frontier Railway continues to provide sub-standard coaches in trains destined to southern states from Guwahati.
The passengers who reached Guwahati on January 30 by travelling in the two- tier AC coach of Thiruvananthapuram-Guwahati  express  train (12507) have only  complaints to tell. The problems in the AC coach range from water scarcity, lack of cleanliness, late running without any reason especially when the train enters Assam. Besides, passengers have several complaints regarding the food provided in the train.
Over Rs 3500 are charged per person in the two- tier AC coach, and the worst affected are the passengers travelling in AC three-tier and sleeper coaches as travelling long distance has turned out to be  a nightmare for them in the absence of basic amenities .
Once the train enters Assam, there is undue delay in reaching the destination as it has to wait for other trains to pass through since there is only single line.
