Army’s dental corps celebrates 74th Raising Day

Jammu:The dental corps of the army on Sunday celebrated its 74th Raising Day by hosting health care events at the Udhampur-based Northern Command headquarters. “The army’s Northern Command Dental Corps celebrated its 74 Corps Day at Udhampur today. All ranks and their families enthusiastically took part in the same,” Udhampur-based defence spokesman Col SD Goswami said. He said that today’s celebrations were a culmination of many public health care events, conducted in the run up to raising day. “These included station-level public health awareness functions for all ranks of Udhampur garrison, oral health exhibitions and checkups of garrison schools,” he said. GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen DS Hooda extended his warm greetings and good wishes to all ranks of the army dental corps and praised them for maintaining high standard of patient care in the northern command zone. Three killed in car-train collision

Nuapada (Odisha):Three persons were killed when a passenger train rammed into their vehicle at an unmanned level crossing at Kalyanpur in Nuapada district on Sunday. The Bhawanipatna-Raipur Passenger train hit the vehicle, on its way to Gotama from Kalyanpur, killing all of them on the spot, Additional SP Mahendra Kumar Patel said. The impact of collision was so severe that the car was split into two pieces. While a portion of the car fell on the field on one side of the rail track, another portion of it lay on the track in which the bodies of the three passengers were found. Tension prevailed at the place as agitated people staged demonstration on the track demanding construction of a level crossing. (PTI)

11 killed in road mishap  in Jodhpur

Jodhpur:At least eleven persons were on Sunday killed and 14 others injured when the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck on Jodhpur bypass, police said. The occupants of the mini-truck were enroute to Bolunda village in Pali district to cast their votes in the ongoing panchayat polls. The injured have been admitted to MDM hospital in Jodhpur where the condition of seven is stated to be serious. According to DCP (East) Rahul Jain, 25 persons, including the driver of the mini-truck, had set off from Chandhan in Jaisalmer early this morning for their village Bolunda on Jodhpur-Jaipur highway.(PTI)
