SHILLONG: Residents of Gillagora in South West Khasi Hills have accused that a sub-inspector of Borsora Outpost is involved in a number of unlawful activities including extortion from truckers and nexus with coal traders.
As many as 34 villagers from Gillagora lodged a complaint in this regard with district SP D Sangma accusing that the accused, sub inspector PC Marak, has also been terrorizing people or quite some time with the help of his associates– Francis Sangma, Renola Sangma, Pringson Sangma, Ablin Sangma, Protima Marak and Maxwell Sangma-and implicate the residents of the village in false cases.
“Marak and his associates collect money amounting to Rs 1000-2000 per truck and allow coal laden trucks to move through the village illegally…they also have nexus with India and Bangladeshi coal traders,” the villagers stated in the complaint.
When contacted, South West Khasi Hills SP D Sangma said that the Additional SP has already been directed to inquire into the matter.
“If allegations are found to be true, action would be taken against the officer,” he said.
He also informed that the police officer has already been transferred to Shillong but the allegations of the villagers have nothing to do with it.
