Pala meets EJH coal mine owners

JOWAI: Shillong MP Vincent H Pala and Khliehriat Legislator, Justine Dkhar held a meeting with the coal mine owners of Jaintia Hills on Wednesday to deliberate on the NGT ban on coal mining.
The meeting held at the office of the Jaintia Hills Coal Miners and Dealers Association (JHCMDA), Moowakhu, Dkhiah was chaired by former JHADC Chief, Hambertus Nongtdu and attended by prominent coal barons including Dinus Siangshai, Thomas Nongtdu, Topaz Lapasam, former MDC, Kor Sympli besides others including the headmen and Dolloi of the area.
The meeting discussed the effects of the NGT ban on coal miners and those dependent on coal mining.
Speaking at the meeting, Pala called upon all coal mine owners to remain united and work under one banner. The Lok Sabha MP also  informed that another meeting of the coal miners will be held in Shillong on February 18.
Pala observed that water pollution is the main problem with mining in this part of the world and said that he plans to invite foreign experts to address the issue.
