SHILLONG: The re-joining of Roshan Warjri as Home Minister end of January has apparently put an end to any future reshuffle of the MUA-II ministry, thanks to the intervention of AICC.
Party sources said that since the AICC wanted status-quo, it preferred the same team to remain though the Chief Minister had sought the nod of the High Command for dropping at least four cabinet ministers, after Warjri resigned.
What irked the Chief Minister was that these cabinet ministers except Warjri had met the AICC leaders last year along with some senior Congress leaders who wanted a change of leadership.
According to party sources, those who would have been affected if there was a cabinet reshuffle included Prestone Tynsong, Rowell Lyngdoh, HDR Lyngdoh and Deborah Marak.
Moreover, after Warjri resigned, there was a suggestion from the state party leadership to the High Command to fill up the vacancy at the earliest, but the AICC did not want any replacement.
A Congress legislator had even prepared himself for the important moment of induction in the event of a replacement.
After the resignation of Warjri, the Chief Minister had even hinted a cabinet reshuffle.
However, further commenting on the reshuffle in November last year after Warjri resigned , the Chief Minister had told reporters that since the Government did not even complete two years, there is a need to give more time to all the ministers since certain initiatives and programmes have already been rolled out.
Party sources said the AICC is against any cabinet reshuffle in Meghalaya in the near future and the re-joining of Warjri in the cabinet is an indication to it.
