Islamabad: Twenty-five people were killed and 55 injured in Pakistan’s Quetta city Wednesday when a bomb went off and then a suicide bomber blew himself up, Xinhua reported.

The dead included three children and two security personnel.

The explosions took place around 9.00 a.m. in front of the office of district commissioner Naseem Lehri. Several cars and buildings were damaged.

The first blast occurred when a bomb planted on a rickshaw exploded.

As people rushed to the site, a suicide bomber struck at a nearby compound, the house of Deputy Inspector General of Frontier Corps, Brigadier Farrukh Shehzad.

To add to the mayhem, two gunmen, apparently accompanying the bomber, opened fire at security forces in the compound before fleeing.

Shehzad’s wife was killed in the explosion, while he and his children were injured. (IANS)
