SHILLONG: The National Commission for Women (NCW) will conduct a sample survey to ascertain the “social-political-economic empowerment” of women in the State.
The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) will conduct the survey with the support of the Social Work department of the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU).
The sample survey will cover around 1,100 women above the age of 18 from all the districts of the State. The areas to be covered include urban, semi-urban and rural. Two surveyors will be put in place in each district, and the exercise will be completed within 60 days.
“We are taking up this sample survey in a phased manner in the various States of the country,” NCW member Shamina Safiq said while taking to newsmen here on Monday adding that the survey is being carried out after 12 years.
The report of the sample survey carried out in the State will be published within six months.
