SHILLONG: Unidentified miscreants on Monday assaulted a railway official who was part of the railway team conducting survey work for the Byrnihat-Shillong project.
Confirming it, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said that the incident took place on the outskirts of Shillong. Details are awaited.
Goyal said that a team of railway officials is likely to meet him on Tuesday in this connection. “They should have informed us prior to conducting the survey and we will discuss the steps that need to be taken,” Goyal said.
Earlier too, attempts to conduct the survey for Byrnihat-Shillong railway project were halted by different pressure groups.
