NDFB-S ultra killed, 4 santhal militants held

Guwahati: National Democratic Front of Bodoland Songbijit faction (NDFB-S) suffered another serious setback as a hardcore terrorist of the outfit was neutralized in a fierce encounter on the night of February 9 last by the security forces while in another operation four militants of National Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA) were apprehended from Kokrajhar district.
A defence source informed that in an operation conducted jointly by the Army and Kokrajhar Police in the Parbatjhora Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar district, the hardcore NDFB-S terrorist, identified as Urga a 35th batch Myanmar trained terrorist of the outfit, was killed.
The terrorist was supposedly very close to self-styled commander of the 14th battalion of the NDFB-S outfit, B Rongjabaja. Huge cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition including a 7.65mm pistol and a grenade were recovered from the terrorist.
Army has been carrying out relentless and proactive ops in the remote Areas and dense forests of Kokrajhar district to choke the movement of the terrorists in the dense jungles and thus preventing then to use these areas and jungles as safe havens.
It is pertinent to mention that the NDFB-S outfit has been looking to increase its footprint, after the apprehension of many of its cadres and over ground linkmen.
In another operation four hardcore National Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA) terrorists were apprehended in a joint operation by the Army and Assam Police on Monday from Kokrajhar district.
The operation was launched on specific intelligence provided by the Army intelligence unit. Two 7.62mm Rifles and two muzzle loaded guns and huge quantity of arms and other war like material were recovered during the operation.
