Guwahati: The Anti-talks faction of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) led by ‘commander in chief’ Paresh Barua on claimed that its base in Myanmar is facing the heat of operation launched by Myanmar Army.
In a statement issued to the media here, the ULFA hardliners faction informed that Myanmar Army on Tuesday launched operation targeting joint base of several militant groups of the North East India including the ULFA in Myanmar with ‘direct help from Indian government’ and claimed that the attack was being successfully resisted so far. The outfit apprehended that the operation by Myanmar Army which is known for its guerrilla warfare skill, would get intensified in coming days.
The ULFA, however, claimed that the attack was on the expected line as the ‘Indian Army was supplying heavy weapons to Myanmar Army through Moreh border point in Manipur since June this year.
The outfit claimed that it along with other friendly militant groups from the N-E have already put in place self-defence mechanism to resist such an attack from Myanmar Army.
“Such an attack would, however, not be able to diminish strong aspirations for freedom of the ULFA and other militant groups from the N-E fighting from Myanmar soil as the people of Myanmar are with the rebels. We want to assure the indigenous people of Assam that we are not going to allow Government of India’s design to destroy our freedom struggle through the gun of the neighbouring country,” the ULFA statement issued by ‘Lieutenant’ Arunodoy Dahotia of the central publicity wing of the outfit.
The outfit stated that the Government of India wanted to wipe out ULFA and its struggle from the face of Assam so that it could continue to exploit the rich natural resources of Assam without any obstruction.
“But it will not be easy to destroy ULFA struggle that has resulted in deaths death of over 13000 martyrs so far,” the ULFA stated.
