Arunachal beefs up security prior to Modi’s visit

Itanagar: The twin Capital Complex of this Himalyan state has been covered up with heavy security blanket keeping in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit the state to attend the 29th Statehood Day celebration of Arunachal Pradesh here on February 20.
During his visit to the state, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 3-day mega ‘Festival of Arunachal’, a part of the Statehood Day celebration being held at I G Park here.
Earlier, Modi had visited the state on two occasions in election campaigns before taking charges of Prime Minister’s post.
The PM is supposed to flag-off the Arunachal – New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Itanagar Water Supply project and comprehensive power transmission line project in his hour-long progamme.
The district administration has pressed all its arsenal for ensuring foolproof security arrangements, additional superintendent of police Dipankar Mishra informed today.
Beside state police forces, CRPF, IRBn have been engaged in the security measures. “Today we have conducted stage rehearsal to make sure our security preparations”, Mishra said.
The incoming vehicles are being thoroughly checked at entry points and several pockets of these twin cities, he added.
Meanwhile, Capital SP, Seju P Kuruvilla today issued traffic advisory following the visit of Prime Minister. (UNI)
