Correction

With reference to the news item (ST Feb.19) under the caption “NE tops Centre’s priority list” the reference to veteran leader AB Vajpayee should have read as former Prime Minister and not as reported. The error is regretted.

Demand

The Joint Action Committee, War Jaintia and Riwar Mihngi comprising Hynniewtrep National Youth Front Southern Riwar Circle and KSU Bakur and Dawki units have demanded immediate transfer of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Amlarem and threatened to resort to agitation if their demand was not fulfilled.

Election

Paras Mal Bothra was elected as the vice-president of Shillong Cantonment Board on Wednesday. Seven newly-elected members of the Board also took oath on the same day. Later, the new members discussed problems faced by the people of the area.

Workshop
