JOWAI: Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, DD Lapang, inaugurated the first Gospel Musical Concert organized by the Bible Society of India (War Jaintia Branch) in Amlarem on Friday.
Doctor of Divinity, Lapang said that he was honoured to have been invited as the Chief Guest of the concert and lauded the role that the Bible Society has played in spreading Christian literature around the world.
He recalled the difficulties that early pioneers like Robert Wright and William Carey faced in publishing and disseminating Christian literature and urged the War Jaintia Branch of the Bible Society of India (B.S.I) to find inspiration from these pioneers.
He also highlighted the vital role that women have played in spreading the scripture and encouraged them to continue shaping the future of the BSI.
Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary, Stephanson Mukhim, was also present on the occasion.
The concert was organized in the Amlarem LP School Playground in an effort to raise funds for building a fully functional office for the War Jaintia Branch of the BSI.
