Five-day Autumn session begins today

 SHILLONG: The five-day Autumn session of the State Assembly which begins here on Friday will be presided over by Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope who will announce the report of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) besides announcing names of members nominated by him to the panel of chairmen.

The opening day will also see the laying of ordinances, orders, notifications, reports, rules, regulations, etc, presentation of supplementary demands for grants and supplementary appropriation for 2011-2012, introduction of government bills and the customary obituary references.

Meanwhile, September 12 and 14 have been listed for private members’ business where bills, motions and resolutions (if any) would be taken up for discussion in the House while September 13 and 15 have been listed for government businesses.

On the last day of the session, voting on supplementary demands will take place till 1 pm, besides introduction, consideration and passing of the Meghalaya Appropriation (No.111) Bill 2011, consideration and passing of other government bills, election to financial committees.

Meanwhile, Opposition NCP has decided to take up various issues during the 5-day session, prominent among them being the prevailing law and order situation in Garo Hills.
