SHILLONG: United XI defeated Riatsamthiah SC by two wickets in a league match of the Super Division Shillong Cricket League organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at the SCA Cricket Ground, Polo on Wednesday.
A five-wicket haul by Sajied Bamon ensured that the Riatsamthiah run rate never picked up and the batters who opted to set a target after winning the toss were restricted to a modest 147/9 in the allotted 40 overs.
If not for Md. Washid Ali’s 58, Riatsamthiah would have struggled to reach the three-digit mark.
In reply, United XI made a tough chase of the small target reaching home with only three balls to spare and eight of their batsmen back in the pavilion.
Gideon Kharkongor top-scored with 34 runs off 41 balls while Rohit Thapa scored 31 runs of 69 balls. Md. Washid delivered an all round performance grabbing two wickets for 26 runs.
