SHILLONG: Unidentified miscreants cut the hair and clothes of a woman besides assaulting her for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
According to Police, the woman was assaulted by three unidentified miscreants at Rilbong area of the city.
The incident occurred on February 20 at around 11 am.
The woman was later taken to Madanrting by the assailants who tied her hands and cut her clothes and hair before handing her over to Madanrting police.
The woman has lodged a complaint at Laban police station in this regard.
When contacted, police said that as per the FIR, the woman got a call from an unknown number asking for her location. Later, few persons came and assaulted her near the State Assembly. The case has been transferred to women’s cell for investigation.
