SHILLONG: The Shillong Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in cooperation with AA members from other North Eastern states hosted the 1st North East Region AA Convention at NEHU Permanent Campus here from February 26-28.
A public information meet on alcoholism and AA as a resource for help was also held on February 26 attended by around 300 participants from all over the country and abroad, a Shillong Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) statement said on Saturday.
On February 27 and 28, the members of the fraternity deliberated on various issues related to the recovery process and also on matters relating to the three legacies-unity, recovery and service– in effectively carrying the message to the still suffering alcoholics in the Northeast region.
The Shillong chapter, a fellowship of families and friends of alcoholics, had parallel sessions. It also launched its website www.aashillong.in on the occasion.
